XP tells you how much verified activity you've accumulated. Badges mark specific achievements; rare mastery rewards recognise complete coverage while leaving more to learn; streaks count return days. Here's exactly what moves each one.

Progress With or Without Sign-In
Learning progress works while signed out and stays in this browser. Sign-in adds an account and cloud continuity; it is not required to answer checks or keep local progress.

A new signed-in profile starts with a 50 XP welcome bonus. After that, XP comes from completed activity and each source is recorded so the same achievement cannot be paid twice.
What Earns XP
When a Completed Chapter Changes
IoT practice moves, so completion is not used to hide later improvements. If a chapter is edited after you completed it, its dashboard square gains a small update marker, the chapter shows Updated since you completed, and What's new for you gives you a direct revisit link. Revisit the changed chapter and complete its checks again to earn the 20 XP knowledge-refresh reward. That reward is limited to once for that specific content update; ordinary rereading and repeated answers do not keep paying XP.
Human-Reviewed Content
Subject experts and appointed reviewers work through chapters and confirm the ones that are currently accurate. When a chapter's most recent human check came back confirmed, you'll see a small ✓ Human-reviewed chip near the top of that chapter, dated to when the confirmation happened. A chapter without the chip simply hasn't been checked recently — that's not a warning, just silence, so the chip is never shown as a negative mark.
The thumbs-up/down feedback you leave on any chapter feeds the same review queue reviewers work from, so flagging something confusing or wrong is a direct line to the next human check, not a message into the void.
From Chapter to Mastery
Path mastery sits above module mastery: every module represented in the path must be mastered. Mastery is a high-water mark in an evolving curriculum, not a claim that learning has finished; new material can always create more to earn.
Sammy says: retaking a check is useful for recall, but it doesn't manufacture extra rewards. Correct answers, chapter completions, badges, and mastery rewards all have duplicate guards.
How Streaks Work
Your streak updates when you sign in on a new learning day. Consecutive days extend it; returning after a gap starts the current streak again at one. The dashboard keeps both your current and longest streak. There is no streak freeze or repair token.
Your Progress Is Yours Alone
IoTClass does not rank learners against each other. There is no public leaderboard and no ranked list to climb — your XP, badges, streaks, and mastery rewards live on your own Progress page and nowhere else. What you complete is between you and the material, not a score for other learners to see.
