Badges & Progress

XP tells you how much verified activity you've accumulated. Badges mark specific achievements; certificates mark completed modules; streaks count return days. Here's exactly what moves each one.

Sammy, your guide

Sammy your guide, not a professor

“I thought XP was a score I could lose. It isn't. It's a running record of things I've actually completed — and the badge is the receipt for a particular milestone.”

First, Sign In

The progression system needs the free Google sign-in so it can attach achievements to you instead of to one browser. Your Dashboard is the one place to see your XP, level, completed chapters, badges, certificates, current and longest streaks, and leaderboard setting.

A new profile starts with a 50 XP welcome bonus. After that, XP comes from completed activity and each source is recorded so the same achievement cannot be paid twice.

What Earns XP

Knowledge check5 XP for an easy correct answer, 10 XP for medium, or 15 XP for hard.
Other checksMatching, ordering, labelling, and code checks award 10 XP on easy, 15 XP on medium, or 20 XP on hard when completed correctly.
Chapter complete100 XP when an assessable chapter is completed for the first time.
Chapter badge20 XP per required knowledge check + 30 XP per required checkpoint, with a 25 XP minimum.
Module badge200 XP + 25 XP for each assessable chapter required by that module.
Streak badges50 XP at 3 days, 150 XP at 7 days, and 500 XP at 30 days.

From Chapter to Certificate

Step 1Chapter badgeAnswer every knowledge check correctly and visit every required checkpoint in an assessable chapter.
Step 2Module badgeEarn the chapter badge for every assessable chapter in that module. Reading-only pages with no checks do not block completion.
Step 3CertificateThe module certificate is issued with the module badge — there is no separate application or final exam.
Sammy

Sammy says: retaking a check is useful for recall, but it doesn't manufacture extra rewards. Correct answers, chapter completions, badges, and certificates all have duplicate guards.

How Streaks Work

Your streak updates when you sign in on a new learning day. Consecutive days extend it; returning after a gap starts the current streak again at one. The dashboard keeps both your current and longest streak. There is no streak freeze or repair token.

The Leaderboard Is Your Choice

The leaderboard ranks XP, but it only includes people who leave Show on leaderboard switched on. New profiles start opted out. If you opt in, the visible handle is the display name you choose; IoTClass does not publish your Google name, email, or profile picture there. You can switch visibility off again from your dashboard.
