Case: touch surface and pad

The pad-on-board layout is conceptual; the source describes a capacitive plate sensing field disturbance. [Photons In, Current Out: capacitive field disturbance]

Teaching view: The conceptual red board carries a circular touch area, with a removable red centre marking. No pale cover is shown; pad and internal details are illustrative.

The measurement to rememberCapacitive readout observes a capacitance or controller-count change from baseline. [Photons In, Current Out: capacitive field disturbance]

1 · Case: touch surface and pad

The circular metal pad is an electrode, a conductor connected to the sensing circuit. Its shape and position on the board are simplified for teaching. [Photons In, Current Out: capacitive field disturbance]

Teaching view: The red board carries a circular touch area with a red centre marking. The pad and internal arrangement are simplified for teaching.

2 · Board / module: electrode and controller

A finger near the electrode changes the surrounding electric field. This changes how much electric charge the electrode stores at a given voltage, which changes its capacitance. The controller measures that change. [Photons In, Current Out: capacitive field disturbance]

Teaching view: The copper-colored electrode sits on a red printed circuit board. A controller sits on the reverse side, with pins for electrical connections. The arrangement is simplified for teaching.

3 · Element: touch electrode

A capacitance change can indicate touch or a nearby conducting object. It cannot identify who touched the pad or directly tell you the object’s distance. [Photons In, Current Out: capacitive field disturbance]

Teaching view: The circular electrode connects to the touch controller. The controller compares its capacitance reading with the no-touch baseline. In this teaching example, it reports a touch when the change exceeds a chosen threshold.

Explode separates the conceptual layers; X-ray makes the case translucent. External package dimensions follow the model specification; internal teaching geometry is conceptual, not to scale, and is not manufacturer CAD or a wiring diagram.
