Users should know what the system is doing: online, syncing, applying, failed, or waiting.
Match real world
Use user language, familiar units, named places, and concepts that match the user task.
User control
Provide cancel, back, undo, override, and safe exits, especially during setup or automation.
Error prevention
Prevent accidental destructive actions with defaults, constraints, confirmations, and previews.
Recognition
Show names, labels, locations, and examples instead of requiring users to remember codes.

Latency feedback

Multi-device context
Users may move between phone, dashboard, sensor, gateway, and physical device.
Offline behavior
Define what remains visible or controllable when the network, cloud, gateway, or device fails.
Accessibility
Use contrast, labels, keyboard access, adequate touch targets, and non-color-only status.

0: no issue
The interface supports the task well. No usability fix is needed for that criterion.
1: cosmetic
Small polish issue. It does not slow most users or create meaningful risk.
2: minor
Causes inconvenience or extra effort. It should be fixed when feasible.
3: major
Significantly harms task completion, confidence, safety, privacy, or operational response.
4: critical
Blocks completion or can lead to serious unsafe, irreversible, or privacy-harming outcomes.
