Case: coated probe paddle

This capacitive probe resists corrosion. The coating and electrode layout shown here are teaching examples; the source does not specify those internal details. [DFRobot · Introduction]

Teaching view: The black probe is a flat paddle with a tapered tip and a connector at the top. The sensing area goes into the soil, where the probe supplies a voltage that changes with moisture.

The measurement to rememberA soil-moisture estimate from this probe needs calibration against measured reference points. [DFRobot · Calibration] [Sensor Calibration]

1 · Case: coated probe paddle

This capacitive probe resists corrosion. The coating and electrode layout shown here are teaching examples; the source does not specify those internal details. [DFRobot · Introduction]

Teaching view: The black probe is a flat paddle with a tapered tip and a connector at the top. The sensing area goes into the soil, where the probe supplies a voltage that changes with moisture.

2 · Board / module: analog output

The calibration tutorial reads the probe’s analog output. [DFRobot · Calibration]

Teaching view: The top of the probe carries small components and a three-contact connector. Its analog output goes to an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), which converts voltage into a number.

3 · Element: sensing area

Calibration uses readings taken in air and water as the two endpoints. [DFRobot · Calibration]

Teaching view: The long gold strips represent electrodes beneath the coating; their layout is a teaching example. They form a capacitor, which stores electric charge. Water in the surrounding soil changes how much charge it can store at a given voltage. The probe circuit turns that capacitance change into an output voltage. Readings in air and water provide reference points for interpreting the output.

Explode separates the conceptual layers; X-ray makes the case translucent. External package dimensions follow the model specification; internal teaching geometry is conceptual, not to scale, and is not manufacturer CAD or a wiring diagram.
